Reflectarray Antenna for Future Wireless Communication

Energy icon, disabled. An orange lightning bolt.

With the incredible demand of bandwidth for wireless communication systems, moving to the millimeter waves (>30 GHz) in the radio spectrum is the need for the future generation. Reflectarray antenna is a promising solution for achieving it. At present, design of the unit cell is completed with switching network for re-configurability to steer its beam in different directions over an area. Major challenges have been in the design of the power delivery network to each unit cell of the antenna. Building a prototype at lower frequency would further complement the proof of concept that can be applied to millimeter wave frequencies.
