Real-Time Object Detection Using Image and Lidar Data

Data icon, disabled. Four grey bars arranged like a vertical bar chart.

The system uses lidar and camera sensors in combination with an object detection model to identify vehicles and determine their distance from the sensor system. The purpose of this research project is to aid drivers in recognizing potential road hazards, and the technology could potentially be integrated into a car’s safety system to help prevent collisions. To enable real-time operation with low power consumption, the system is deployed on an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier, taking advantage of its embedded GPU.
