RASCAL Lunar Mobility

Education icon, disabled. A purple mortarboard.

This project is motivated by NASA’s Revolutionary Aerospace Systems Concepts and Academic Linkage (RASCAL) competition to demonstrate the feasibility of a reconfigurable lunar rover. Preceding astronaut arrival, this rover shall act as an explorer, but it will maintain the capability to be reconfigured and used as mobility system for astronauts once they land. The research group has focused their efforts on constructing a scaled-down version of this craft in order to test craft dynamics and the practicality of reconfigurable systems.
