The overall goal is to build upon the previous work using GRANTA software to obtain estimates of mechanical properties of polymer-ceramic composite materials. This work is being extended by using finite element models. The aim is to employ designated ASTM standards to experimentally validate polymer-ceramic composite properties. Creation of bio composite design of bone fixation devices from the bio composite mechanical property estimates from computational data will serve as a basis to develop non-metallic composite bone fixation devices for orthopedic applications.
