Moisture-Swing Polymer@textile Composites for CO2 Capture
Quaternary ammonium-containing sorbents have significant potential in direct air capture (DAC) of CO2. In DAC sorbents, the adsorption of CO2 can occur at lower concentrations, which allows for mitigation of global warming caused by the excess CO2 already in the atmosphere. The project investigates the modification of textiles into polymer@textile composite membranes with improved mechanical properties for long-term stability and DAC performance. This is done by immobilizing polymeric sorbents with quaternary ammonium groups into the textiles. Future work includes investigating discarded textiles as a sustainable material in DAC membranes.
