Modeling and Control of Rocket Ascent in a Vertical Plane

Sustainability icon, disabled. A green leaf.

This project uses a simplified model of a thrust vector-controlled rocket in ascent to design and analyze control systems for such a rocket. The dynamical system describing a rocket in powered flight requires a number of assumptions as well as model simplifications and linearizations in order to be analyzed using basic traditional control design techniques. The effectiveness of controllers designed using these simplifications was analyzed. These findings will be used to design, model, and control a system for propulsively landing a rocket.
