Investigation of Stokes Number Effects on Particle-Laden Flows

Sustainability icon, disabled. A green leaf.

The goal of this FURI project is to find the particle characteristics that lead to a significant increase to the overall mass flow rate of particle-laden turbulent channel flow. Simulations are analyzed at Stokes number 30, 60, 90 and 100 with a friction Reynolds number of 180. The Stokes number has been varied by changing the particle diameter. Compared to the unladen case, there is an increase in mass flow rate at the Stokes numbers being studied; this enhancement is more pronounced with increased particle inertia.
