Investigation of Reactive Oxidative Stress Using a Uniaxial Stretch Model to Simulate Physiological Micromotion Induced Cyclic Strain on Brain

Health icon, disabled. A red heart with a cardiac rhythm running through it.

Physiological micromotion, such as breathing and vascular pulsations, has a significant impact on the reliability of implants used in neuromodulation therapies. Micromotion-induced stresses and strain are hypothesized to impact neuronal function due to oxidative stress. This study seeks to analyze the biological impact of physiological micromotion simulated by a uniaxial stretch model that induces periodic strains on cultured neuronal networks.
