Innovative Additive Manufacturing 3D — Hovercraft Vehicle Disaster Relief System
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has designed and manufactured a remote-control hovercraft vehicle using additive manufacturing techniques that will collect a payload for rapid delivery to a set destination. A larger scale of this hovercraft will deliver care packages to areas affected by natural disasters. The design of this vehicle considers the environment it would serve as a fully functional prototype. In designing for real-world operating conditions it is useful to consider the thermal, mechanical, and other environmental stresses that the vehicle may encounter. The engineering team determined the solution to be viable for possible use by FEMA and the Red Cross.
