Generation and Characterization of Sex-Specific H-IPSC Derived Neural Progenitor Cells for Alzheimer’s Disease Studies

Health icon, disabled. A red heart with a cardiac rhythm running through it.

This project aims to explore the signaling and expression differences between Neural Progenitor (NPC) cells by staining two sex-specific cell lines generated from the same parental line. The NPCs were stained for the early-onset marker SOX1, the stem-like marker SOX2, and the cytoskeletal marker NESTIN. Sex-specific differences and results are currently being analyzed due to an initial problem in cell staining, but will be presented as planned. Future research will involve differentiation of NPCs to neurons, with neuronal characterization through a similar staining process.
