Developing Drag Reduction Strategy in Turbulent Channel Flow

Energy icon, disabled. An orange lightning bolt.

The objective of this study is to develop a wall-sensing-based control method for drag reduction in turbulent flow channels. This study involves performing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations that utilize instantaneous wall shear stress for counteracting the drag induced by near-wall turbulent vortices. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of this drag reduction approach, which has the potential to advance energy-efficient strategies in aerospace, automotive, and marine applications.
