Analyzing Single-Cell RNA Sequencing Data to Classify Cell States

A quiescent-like G0 state, Neural G0, was identified in embryonic human neural stem cell (hNSC) scRNA-seq data. The research team built a classifier (ccAF) and applied it to neuroepithelial-derived cells/glioma to discover G0 enrichment. Increasing the tissue types used to train ccAF will allow the identification of G0-like states in other tissues and enhance understanding of developmental processes/treatment strategies for a variety of human diseases. This research, an optimized and streamlined pipeline, will allow researchers to determine cell types to be prioritized for experimental studies to expand the capabilities of the ccAF classifier to include a variety of biological contexts.
