Shaopeng Wang
Associate Professor, Biodesign Center for Bioelectronics and Biosensors
Dr. Shaopeng Wang is an associate professor with a joint appointment in the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering (SBHSE), the Biodesign Center for Bioelectronics and Biosensors (BCBB), and the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering. Dr. Wang is a graduate faculty (Endorsed to Chair) of the following PhD programs: Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biological Design, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics.
Dr. Wang's research interests include biosensors and bioanalytical instrumentation, with a focus on developing novel label-free optical detection methods for functional studies of molecular and cellular activities, for applications in biomedical research, drug discovery, and diagnostics. Dr. Wang has published over 150 journal articles, with a Google H-index of 52 and a total citation over 10,000. He also had 9 issued patents and over 30 patent applications.
Dr. Wang had postdoctoral training at Dr. Nongjian Tao's lab at the Department of Physics, Florida International University, where he worked on surface plasmon resonance sensors. Before joining ASU, Dr. Wang worked as a senior research scientist at ICX Nomadics (Now part of FLIR), where he was PI of multiple federal and state-funded projects.
Dr. Wang joined ASU/BCBB as an associate research professor in 2008 and was promoted to research professor in 2015. He joined SBHSE in 2021 as a tenure-track associate professor and was promoted to tenure in 2024.
