Minglei Qu

Assistant Professor, School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy

Minglei Qu is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering and a graduate faculty of Materials Science and Engineering in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy at ASU. 

His research lies at the intersection of metal additive manufacturing, in-situ characterization, and materials science. By utilizing advanced in-situ characterization tools, including synchrotron X-ray imaging and diffraction, neutron diffraction, visible light camera, and infrared camera, Dr. Qu investigates process dynamics, fundamental physics, and materials science during additive manufacturing. He also employs in-situ characterization tools to study material responses under extreme environment, including mechanical loading and elevated temperatures. Based on these insights, Dr. Qu develops innovative methods to control defects and design advanced materials in metal additive manufacturing.
