Development of Active Movement-Damping Mechanism for Implementation in Knee Brace
It is projected that 100,000 people rupture their anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) annually in the U.S. Knee braces are commonly used in conjunction with intensive physical therapy to aid the recovery of ACL injury. The goal of this work is to bring existing technology to a knee brace platform to create a mechanism that actively dampens high-risk movements thus protecting the wearer from re-injury.
