Temporal Specificity of the Binding Potential of CDR3 Peptides to Traumatic Brain Injury

Health icon, disabled. A red heart with a cardiac rhythm running through it.

The goal of this project is to discover new biomarkers for traumatic brain injury (TBI) in hopes of improving diagnostic tools for this condition. Immunohistochemical evaluation will be used to investigate the binding affinity of biopanned peptides to injured neural tissue sampled from various time points post-injury. The tissue will be imaged using microscopy and the fluorescent signal exhibited by the different injury phases will be quantified and used to deduce the temporal specificity of candidate biomarkers across the progression of the injury. This research will lay the groundwork for improved diagnostic tools and drug delivery systems for this debilitating condition.
