Computational and Experimental Studies of Imidazolium-Based Ionic Liquids in Organic Solutions for MET Sensor Devices

This research focuses on further understanding on how molecular dynamic interactions affect the chemical properties of ionic liquid solutions for the optimization of a molecular electronic transducer-based seismometer for low-temperature space applications. This project will utilize ionic liquids, such as 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium iodide, [BMIM][I], to observe their chemical properties when mixed with organic solvents such as butyronitrile (BCN) or propylene carbonate (PC) from a combined computational and experimental approach.
