From design to reality of Concrete 3D Printing

The state-of-the-art 3D printing of concrete lacks guidelines in the selection of materials and mix proportioning of 3D printable binders. Understanding the pressure characteristics of 3D printing concrete is crucial to decide the pre-print material requirements and post-print stability of the print. This study will include pressure tests using an extrusion cell to record the inlet and outlet pressure in extrusion through different nozzle geometries. A pressure invariant response across different geometries is favorable in 3D-printing. This allows for a suitable selection of mixtures and extruder geometry depending on the input design.
